Fischer's Baslow Hall Hotel

Baslow

Perched at the top of a winding chestnut tree-lined drive, you’ll come to Fischer’s Baslow Hall for walks in the rolling hills of the Peak District, but stay for the food. Nestled on the edge of the village of Baslow and surrounded by five acres of impressive gardens, chef Rupert Rowley’s Michelin-starred plates have turned this Edwardian manor into something of a culinary magnet. Intimate in scale and homely in feel – think restaurant with rooms as opposed to a grand country house – bedrooms are charming and split between the original hall and a newer annexe in the courtyard. Decor follows suit. The house is traditional in style with patterned wallpaper and antique furniture, while the annexe exudes a more contemporary feel. Similarly, the two dining rooms fuse classic and modern food, with beautifully presented pan-fried sea bass and home-grown vegetables, and a well-executed saddle of rabbit with liquorice. After dinner, retire to the confines of the beautifully cosy lounge and its roaring log fire and start planning your morning walk. Doubles from £230.
