    Hey everybody!

Here's my final entry for the challenge -

For the challenge this month I decided to go for an alternative interpretation of the "Nature's Shield" theme. The recent controversy over vaccines (here in the United States) got me thinking about how a vaccine could be considered a natural shield. An injection can provide a patient with protection from illness. Examples of a protective injection include: a vaccination, a vitamin shot, or any other creative science fiction concoctions you can dream up.

Great to see all of the cool entries this month! I'm really happy with the new Sketchfab PBR shading / lighting! It makes me want to go back and spruce up my old models when I can get the chance!

When I saw your first post I was thinking it did not fit. Now that I think about it this is a pretty cool idea. Vaccines do cause a natural barrier(shield) in your body. Beautiful model too. Really shows off the PBR.

Thanks everybody for their entries! Sure was a fun one! What we love in particular is the interaction between people here :) Help each other if you can by posting tips or screenshots with tips/help on how to fix or do something. Very cool entries. We will announce the winner later today or tomorrow! For now, head over to the NEW Challenge here:

Thanks @Baldinoboy ! I went for the sci-fi route since it seemed like everyone else had the fantasy thing going on. Also, honestly I love making a fun sci-fi prop whenever I possibly can! I may try push myself for the next comp and make something fantasy themed!

It was a pleasure to join this, and indeed, there were so many artists participating in this, definitely a strong gather of creativity here :) everybody should be proud of themselves for both participating and organising this.
This was quite an exciting month i could say, working on this shield took some power out of me,because i had a lot to do,but it worthed all the time for sure. But yeah, luckily now i can relax a little bit.

P.s. On next March put as a theme a birthday cake the deadline will fall on my birthday:D

...and due to the fact that I was on Yr 12 retreat the whole week, (only got back yesterday!) my entry didn't make it... :D

Ah well. Might as well wait for the next awesome challenge to crop up. Might even model it around the next theme and the destination I was at for three days. :)

Hey everybody, does my model's backround appear white with black strips?
It appears like this to me,and i i don't know why,it worked pretty good,i tried to change backgrounds etc and play with the intensity of it but nothing worked...So if u see it also white,is that a bug or sth? Anyone who could help fix it?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Hey Nikos,

I just checked it and I see indeed black and white...Stripes, dots, etc, behind yourart. It's weird. When I take my mouse off the player, I get a normal black background again. I hope you can solve this!

there is something wrong with sketchfab, that BW clipping is in other scenes too ..(i can see that in all scenes which uses environment background )

if you turn off replace background, it will disappear, but you will lose the background.
my model does that too because i have it turned on but brightness set to 0.

Just wanted to add that I'm experiencing it too on my model and on any that use a cubemap background. I'm sure @Sketchfab will be able to get this figured out. Hopefully quickly. :)

What it looks like for reference -

Thank you guys.I just wanted to be sure that there's not something that has to do with the settings user set.But apparently it seems this problem has appeared to some people from here as well, but i think we shouldn't worry about it,since we have mentioned it here,i'm sure Sketchfab will try to find what's causing this and fix it :)

Thanks @nikos667 ! I really like the unique fantasy style you have going on in your entry! Very alien and otherworldly but grounded with identifiable objects like the shield! Very cool!

Yeah almost looks like it was done on purpose! :D SUCH PATTERNS!

I've switched mine to a static background for now until things go back to normal.

Thx,m8 i'm not sure what kind of style i followed to make this, what i had in mind was a mix of both realistic and stylised stuff.I was always interested in this kind of weird and magical landscapes some genious people from Hollywood have been making over the years in various movies, you know like those weird characters in the movie Alice in Wonderland etc. So i said why not try to do this kind of landscape style! And i have to admit although i'm not that fan of stylised that i was impressed,i really enjoyed it and it was very satisfying artistic activity happening in my brain during the making of it.

Overall i'm really happy because it was represented exactly as i had it in my mind...which is not always that easy to get like 100% close to a reference that you had in your mind...so it was quite nice to achieve that...

Very cool! Congratulations to everyone who took part! The real reward is the experience and practice gained from creating something for the challenge within the requirements before the deadline! Allthough, I AM looking forward to playing with my sweet Particle Playground asset! :) I can't wait to see what gets made for the current challenge. It sounds really awesome! I hope I'll have more time to join in than I did this month! :D

Couldn't have said it better, VertexFiend. You don't only learn to do something new about cg art or improve your know how with the tools but you also learn alot about managing your time or solving problems that occur on the way to the finished model. That's something I absolutely love, to solve the individual problems that occur with each idea I want to realise.
