Online platform urges landlords to handle viewings to avoid agents

An online property platform that last year said tenants prefer to deal directly with landlords has returned to the theme with a claim that renters are complaining about ‘pushy agents’.

TheHouseShop has commissioned an online survey of 2,087 adults - it does not say whether these are tenants, landlords, owner occupiers or have any other status - and claims the results “have been weighted and are representative of all GB adults”.

Using this starting point, it says that a third of tenants would be "turned off" a property if they had to deal with pushy agents.

The platform then goes on to say that in the light of the new research and its assertion last year about direct dealing with landlords, “if landlords have the time to conduct viewings themselves and deal with applicant tenants directly, they could cut down their chances of losing out on a great tenant.”

The platform claims other apparent deal-breakers for would-be tenants are bad neighbours, live-in landlords, poor internet connections and lack of cleanliness in the property.
