A human trafficking investigation in Long Beach led to the rescue of several girls, and charges being filed against a Los Angeles man, officials said Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed charges Tuesday against Reginald Washington, 18, who was already in custody on unrelated charges in Los Angeles. Washington was charged with seven counts of human trafficking involving seven victims, all minors. More victims are being sought in the case, which is being investigated by Long Beach and Los Angeles police.
He was arraigned at Los Angeles County Superior Court Tuesday and is being held on $1.9 million bail.
Investigation
Detectives began to look into Washington after locating a minor in Long Beach who told them that he was forcing her into prostitution.
The initial investigation led detectives to several other minor victims who told similar stories.
Los Angeles police detectives also identified minors who were victimized by Washington in Los Angeles, and worked together with Long Beach detectives.
