Elegant Winter Wedding in Texas

We love to hear the love stories of our couples, and Sara and Alex’s story is incredibly sweet: not only was he her first date, but that very first date was their last ever “first date.” These newlyweds have been together since high school, and so their wedding celebration felt a long time coming. They planned an elegant winter wedding in their home state of Texas, and though Texas may not be as “wintery” as many other places, we love the way they incorporated seasonal touches to their wedding: hot chocolate and marshmallows, handmade knitted shawls gifted to the bridesmaids, and a seasonal palette of whites, greens, and gold. More from the bride:

“We got married on a chilly January afternoon on my family ranch in Navasota, Texas, surrounded by about eighty of our close family and friends. When we were beginning to plan, the season and location were very important to us to create a cozy and personal feel to the day. The ranch is really special for us, both as a place I grew up with and also as a little haven for us throughout our relationship.

We really wanted to achieve an intimate and relaxed environment for the day that embodied our personalities and story. We kept to a muted winter color palette, with lots of candles, rustic florals, and greenery foraged from the land.

Our friends and family warmed up with hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows prior to the ceremony, held in the ranch house living room. We had a tent reception to follow overlooking the lake, with dark and stormy cocktails, a family-style winter feast, and dessert served in cast iron skillets. Alex and I love to share food together, so having a great, communal meal was really important. The whole day was magical, with every detail customized for us to create the perfect environment to dedicate our lives to each other. I will never forget it.”
