UPDATE:

The midstate is in store for a significant winter storm Friday night into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in State College.

But the NWS said it is still too early to accurately predict how much snow will fall.

"We're still three days out, it will depend on how the system tracks through the area," said Joe Curu, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

As of Wednesday morning, the website for the National Weather Service only said there is an 80 percent chance of snow for the midstate starting Friday night, no accumulation totals were listed.

Forecasters at AccuWeather say there is the potential for the midstate to receive about 6 to 12 inches of snow from Friday through Saturday.

The Weather Channel is predicting about 5 to 8 inches of snow for the Harrisburg area.

For Wednesday, the midstate can expect a high near 32, with a low at night of around 21.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Low around 19.

FRIDAY: An 80 percent chance of snow at night. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Low around 25.

SATURDAY: An 80 percent chance of snow. High near 30. Low around 21.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Low around 17.
