Watch The Glorious Moment This Mitsubishi Gets Rescued From Its Icy Tomb

This Mitsubishi Lancer was left by Lake Eerie, New York, after its owner decided not to drive home after having drinks with friends. On returning, he found that his car had been entombed in ice. Now though, it's free to hoon another day!

One of my biggest fears during winter. Not going to happen here in Vienna, but still so uncomfortable just to imagine. 😱

He could’ve just scraped off the ice on the car for their drinks.

Why do I feel like they are mistreating the car? I would’ve just brought a couple heaters or a hair dryer lmao and started melting the door. Fired it up and waited for it to just defrost. If that didn’t work then I would’ve tried to call a tow.

because it was a es not an evo, people who have es models don’t care the think a car is an appliance, but if it was an evo who oned it would do everthing to get the ice off

All the fluids wouldve been frozen, and basically fvcked. The “gas” (petrol) wouldve been filled with water from the defrosting etc. and its probably frozen on the inside too.

Because that would take ages and ages. And believe me, what they did wasn’t ‘mistreating’ it. What’s wrong with pulling it sideways. As you can see the ground was covered in ice. If slowly turning a car around on an ice is ‘mistreating’ it, then what are your opinions on drifting, powersliding, handbrake turns, … ? The lateral force on the wheels is a lot higher there!

Another reason why what they did is better than bringing a couple of heaters to the car is that now the car can defrost slowly. Nothing is worse to anything that has to be defrosted than a heat shock. Especially the windows wouldn’t have liked that.

20 cm of ice is not a small thing to defrost while outside in the winter haha!

It was probably cold enough that a hair dryer would have melted the ice and the melted ice would have immediately melted again.
