In a small low key spot on the eastern side of Tampa Heights, Lee’s Grocery, despite its deceiving name, is actually a hip pizzeria and beer joint. The place can seat about 30 people inside and there is a courtyard outside, and the bartenders are also the servers. They have a wonderful selection of beer, with seven tap handles that almost always offer six to seven draft beers to choose from, all microbrews or European brews. The choices are always well-balanced, with options like a stout, a porter, a pilsner, a hefeweizen, an IPA, and maybe even something barrel-aged or a sour. In addition, the entire back wall and about half of another wall are covered in bottled and canned beers, all craft and European. Many of the drinks are hard to find, and all are cold and ready for you to drink with your delicious stone baked pizza.

3. Rick’s On The River

If you’re boating down the Hillsborough River, there’s no better place to dock, grab a bite to eat, and listen to music than Rick’s on the River. There, you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful view while listening to the live music that plays every night and munching on delicious seafood with a great drink to wash it down. Rick’s has a Happy Hour from 11am to 7pm Monday through Friday. They also have a large tropical drink selection with better prices than most other places, which includes Rum Runners, piña coladas, mud slides, strawberry daiquiris, rum punch, mojitos, margaritas, and mai tais. Service is relaxed and generally quick, though it can get slower during busy hours. The fresh oysters, seasonal grouper sandwich, and smoked fish spread are favorite menu choices to go with the refreshing drinks. Lots of TVs, ample parking, and free docking for boats make Rick’s a popular choice for many people in the area.
