Chelsea Clinton and a select group of women will be honored next month in New York as Variety’s Lifetime Impact Honorees for humanitarian work.
Variety magazine and the Lifetime television network will pay tribute on April 21 to Mrs. Clinton and five other women for their philanthropic endeavors. The 37-year-old will attend the Power of Women: New York luncheon with fellow honorees Jessica Chastain, Gayle King, Blake Lively, Audra McDonald, and Shari Redstone.
“At the heart of New York City is a vibrant community of strong women in entertainment, media, and politics whose commitment to philanthropy is inspirational,” said Michelle Sobrino Stearns, Group Publisher/Chief Revenue Officer of Variety, in a statement released Monday. “We are delighted to be celebrating these women along with the women profiled in our annual New York Women’s Impact List with our partners at Lifetime.”
Ms. Clinton, vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, “will be honored for her work with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, which empowers kids to develop lifelong healthy habits,” Variety added.
The magazine expects 400 “entertainment and media insiders” to attend the event.
April’s Power of Women: New York luncheon will take place just days after The Clinton Global Initiative shuts down. A WARN notice [The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act] was filed with the New York Department of Labor Jan. 12 pertaining to the group’s April 15 “discontinuation.”

Plans to shutter CGI’s doors were first announced Aug. 22, 2016, by former President Bill Clinton as the family navigated the U.S. presidential election season landscape. Concerns over conflicts of interest were rendered moot by Republican nominee Donald Trump’s victory over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Election Day.
