Snowstorm leaves thousands without power in parts of N.J.

A snowstorm that dumped several inches of snow on Monmouth and Ocean counties, closed dozens of schools and wreaked havoc on the region's roadway on Friday morning, also knocked out power to thousands of people.

As of 10:30 a.m., Jersey Central Power & Light was reporting that more than 6,200 of its customers in Monmouth County were without power. These outages included more than 1,500 customers in Freehold Township and nearly 1,400 customers in Aberdeen Township.

Meanwhile, the company was also reporting that it had more than 1,700 customers without power in Ocean County, most of whom were located in Jackson Township and Lacey Township.
