While many people have rallied around the community of Flint by sending clean bottled water, we cannot ignore the damage that has already been done. #FordHall4Flint, in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, is raising funds to meet the longterm healthcare demands of the Flint community and its children.

Your gift today can help to address the needs of a lifetime. Please help us exceed our modest goal by March 4th.

Who We Are

#FordHall4Flint is an initiative started by students at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, who were involved in #FordHall2015 and are outraged by the water crisis currently affecting the Flint, Michigan community. We stand in solidarity with the marginalized communities who are experiencing racial and socioeconomic inequalities in Flint.

Once more, we have come together to rally the support of the greater Brandeis community to help those most in need.

On GoFundMe we are represented by Andy Smith, one of our members who is accountable for managing our GoFundMe page and the transactions relating to it.

Your Gift

While we recognize the immediate need for water bottles and water filters, we wanted to offer our support in a long-term, sustainable capacity by using this page to raise funds specifically for children.

To achieve this we reached out the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) to forge a partnership that will allow #FordHall2015 to raise funds specifically for CFGF’s Flint Child Health & Development Fund. CFGF responded enthusiastically, and we have launched this GoFundMe page as the online component of our fundraising and activism.

The Flint Child Health & Development Fund

While short-term solutions for the Flint Water Crisis abound, the Flint Child Health & Development Fund will provide long-term grantmaking to services that are key to addressing the healthcare needs of the children and community members already poisoned by the water. Grants will be advised by a committee of community members with representation from residents, Hurley Children’s Hospital, Mott Children’s Health Center, Greater Flint Health Coalition, United Way of Genesee County, and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.

Grants will be made from the Fund to local nonprofits delivering services to Flint children and their families, services including: Crisis response, Optimal child health & development, Early childhood education, Educational and Student Support Services, Continuous access to a pediatric medical home, Access to infant and child behavioral health services, Nutrition education, Healthy food access, Safe & healthy home environments, Integrated social services, Research.

Gifts withdrawn from this GoFundMePage will be sent by check directly to the Flint Child Health & Development Fund and restricted to specifically serve those children impacted by this crisis.

Note: This information was drawn from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s Flint Child Health & Development Fund website. You can visit the website and learn more about the Fund here.

Make Your Impact Last

Your donation will go directly towards supporting Flint area children and will assist those who have been directly affected by the dangerous toxins in the water. By helping to build the Flint Child Health & Development Fund, you will be making your impact for years to come.

The Brandeis community, both near and far, came together in an overwhelmingly positive way to support #FordHall2015 and we know that can come together again, to help those in need in Flint.
