Seems Like Everyone's Getting Faster Internet but the U.S.

Internet company Akamai released their quarterly "State of the Internet" report, which includes "data gathered across Akamai's global server network about attack traffic, connection speeds, Internet penetration and broadband adoption, as well as trends seen in this data over time." One bummer of a trend, at least for U.S. netizens: From 2008 to 2009, the world's broadband speeds grew 13% faster on average; in the U.S., it's 2.4% slower. That wouldn't be so bad if our internet speeds were already blazingly fast, but we're #18 on a list of fastest average connection speeds, averaging 3.9Mbps. Glass-half-full analysis: There's plenty of room for improvement! [State of the Internet Report via Gizmodo]
