SOUTH LOOP — The new Portillo's under construction in the South Loop will feature not one, but two rooms with a view.

The restaurant opening in May at 520 W. Taylor St. will include two book-ending patios, one of them on the second floor, said Nick Scarpino, a spokesman for the Villa Park-based chain.

Known for its chocolate cake shakes and Chicago-style fare, Portillo's made its plans for its second Chicago restaurant known when it applied for a building permit in September.

Once open, the restaurant will include a green 1928 Ford pickup truck as part of its decor and serve alcohol like its existing River North outpost at 100 W. Ontario St.

Scarpino said the restaurant will employ about 200 people, and hiring will start in April.
