Beer tech for a better brew at CES 2016 (pictures)
Here are the gadgets we saw that promise to improve your favorite malty beverage.
Bottoms Up
We got hands on time with a trio of beer machines at CES 2016. Here's what they do and how they hope to add to your personal happy hour.
Fizzics
Fizzics has a crazy premise -- it aims to make your bottled beer taste more like its draft equivalent... using sound.
Draft beer from a bottle
We actually reviewed Fizzics back in October, and it kind of works.
A sealed container
You insert your beer into the sealed compartment and put the hose into your bottle.
A smooth pour
Pull the handle and it pours smoothly.
Brewie
Brewie is an automatic beer brewer. Craft your recipe or pick one from the online database, throw in the right malts and hops, and it'll take care of the rest.
Two compartments for more automation
Brewie attaches to a hose and draws the water it needs on its own. Within a few hours, you'll have uncarbonated beer, or wort. You'll need a separate container with yeast for the last, longer step -- fermentation.
PicoBrew Brewvana
With Brewvana, PicoBrew's combined a couple of its previous machines, and it'll brew your beer from start to finish.
The Pico
The PicoBrew Pico takes care of the first couple of steps. It makes wort, similar to Brewie.
Kegsmarts
Kegsmarts finishes the job with temperature controlled sleeves to help your beer rest at the temperature it needs. Once that process is done, you can even use Kegsmarts to tap your beer.
