The skeletal remains of a Hoover woman missing since June were discovered in an overgrown lot in Birmingham over the weekend.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday confirmed the remains as Angela Michelle Roberts, who was 26 at the time she disappeared.
According to Hoover police, Roberts’ family reported her missing on July 10. Family told police she was last seen in late June leaving a residence on Old Tyler Road via taxi/rideshare service.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates Roberts’ remains were discovered about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in an overgrown lot next to a vacant house in the 300 block of 64th Street South.
Authorities were able to confirm her identity through dental records.
The cause and manner of death has not been determined. Yates said there was no obvious evidence of foul play, but the investigation and testing is ongoing.
Hoover police at the time said no foul play was suspected in her disappearance. Roberts was the mother of two children.
Her mother, Ginger Jones, had been outspoken about her daughter’s battle with addiction.
On the Facebook page Angela Roberts-Missing, Jones wrote, “Addiction and the brokenness of this evil world have robbed so much joy from the lives of so many. Angela has struggled for years, and our family has been torn apart by the evil of addiction. When I close my eyes at night and think of Angela this is the face I see and not the evil of the addiction. As parents or family members we have to make hard decisions for the addicts we so desperately want to save and sometimes we question ourselves and wonder if we made the right decision, etc. Sometimes our decisions force our addict into change for the better and sometimes they spiral further into their mess. I cry out to God every night to keep His protective hand on Angela and for her to be brought home to me. Trusting in HIM alone.”
