Faster. Higher. Stronger. Climbing may not have made it to the Olympic Games, but climbers are performing at Olympian levels, from the boulders to the biggest walls.

None — Into the Light: Chris Sharma and German superstar Stefan Glowacz teamed up for a Red Bull–backed climb in Oman, developing and then redpointing a 13-pitch 5.14a route—entirely underground. The climb, accessed by a 500-foot-plus rappel (with special permission from the Omani government), ascends the ceiling of one of the world’s largest caverns: Majlis al Jinn. Golden Pitons Naked Edge — Edge of Time: Two pairs of Colorado climbers—Scott Bennett (pictured)/Brad Gobright and Stefan Griebel/Jason Wells—traded speed records for the Naked Edge, the ultra-classic 5.11 multi-pitch in Eldorado Canyon.
