Cares For Kids Radiothon Helps You Help Save Lives

The Cares For Kids Radiothon helps brings vital services and life–saving equipment to the Red River Valley.

The two–day event raises money for Sanford Children’s Hospital.

One local mother had no idea that she would need emergency care for her unborn baby.

“My son was born in 2010 in January, and we had the most normal pregnancy.  Everything was going great until I actually had him,” said Danielle Hewson.

Danielle’s son, Jade, had a stroke in utero and the umbilical was wrapped around his neck.  He had to stay in the NICU for fourteen days.

“These life–saving devices that are purchased because of the radiothon are going to be there for other people.  I didn’t think I ever needed these services, but when you do need these services it really is a great … great to be a part of something like this that you can help everybody,” said Hewson.

The Radiothon is back this year and they’re looking to raise even more money to help even more families.

The Children’s Miracle Network says they help put money where the miracles are.

“Well, we always try to beat last year’s goal, but in all honesty, there’s not a price tag you can put on kids, so the more money, the better.  We are in continuous need of funds as we continue to grow at Sanford Children’s Hospital, so we’re hoping for a record year,” said Hillery Mork, Program Director for the Children’s Miracle Network.

The Care for Kids Radiothon runs through tomorrow.

One hundred percent of funds raised stays in the Valley to help children.

If you would like to donate to the radiothon, call 701-478-KIDS.  The radiothon is open through 6 PM on Friday.
