Stop, Pause, Accelerate - Lorraine Moore

“An unexamined life is not worth living.”
– Socrates, Greek philosopher in Athens (469 BC – 399 BC)

Over the past two weeks, I spent several hours with over 25 successful senior leaders. I was leading their annual retreats – structured meetings at which we combine business topics and discussion with social time. All participants have demanding jobs and full personal lives. It is not easy to carve out three days plus travel for an event that could be considered discretionary; however, there they were.

This is, in part, why they are successful. They prioritize their personal development. They park their egos to share challenges and to ask for assistance and they seek ideas from others. They set aside time to pause, reflect, assess and perhaps even re-prioritize. Then they return with a renewed sense of purpose, focus and vigor.

Are you dedicating time to your own development? This can be achieved through peer groups, networking, formal study, reading, or audio books to name a few methods.

How do you ensure reflection time? I suggest scheduling time for personal and professional development and reflection. You will be glad you did.

My clients accelerate their results – increasing profitability, leadership performance, innovation and accountability. I would love to discuss how I might contribute to your success. Contact me today.
