Duchess Kate wore a curious pantsuit for that Pride of Britain Awards appearance

Last week, on the same day that the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge were doing appearances around London for Kate’s “Hold Still” photography exhibition, they also changed their clothes just so they could film a segment for the Pride of Britain Awards. We only saw a couple of exclusive shots from a distance, but we could see that Kate shed her giant McQueen coat and put on a pantsuit. Which is very curious, because clearly she doesn’t care about breaking Pantsuit Protocol! But I was curious about the whole thing, so here’s what it was about:

Kate Middleton and Prince William have supported the heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning of the crisis. Now they have presented a key honor to the National Health Service at the forefront of the fight against the worst the disease has wrought across the U.K.

William and Kate, both 38, met six representatives of the NHS at Britain’s oldest hospital, St Bartholomew’s in the City of London to talk about their work during the pandemic. They also offered their support to TV presenter Garraway whose husband Derek is still seriously ill in the hospital after contracting the virus in March.

As they made their presentation during the awards, which will be broadcast on Sunday, William said, “The devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic has reminded us as a nation of how much we owe to the thousands of NHS workers who have gone far beyond the call of duty this year.

“They have worked tirelessly around the clock, with humility and compassion, in the most challenging of circumstances, putting their own lives on the line to help others.” Kate added, “Through our conversations with frontline workers during the pandemic, we have been inspired by their stories of bravery and selflessness. Many have had to leave their families for weeks on end, some have come out of retirement to help, while others have stepped into new roles to play their part in the fight against coronavirus.

“And it is not just the medical teams – all NHS staff have played a crucial role through this time. During lockdown, we joined people up and down the country to applaud the NHS and our keyworkers each week. Their hard work still goes on and we remain indebted to them for all they do.”

[From People]

Okay. That’s what I thought it would be. From the photos, you can see that while Will and Kate social-distanced from the healthcare workers they met, they did not wear masks. Which… again, if you are around healthcare workers, just wear a f–king mask.

As for fashion… it just continues to be FASCINATING!! Kate wore a blazer by Smythe (which is likely a rewear), a new blouse by Lisou London, which is blue for healthcare workers, then it also has a small rainbow print, also for healthcare workers. The trousers are very interesting! They’re a wider leg than Kate is used to, and dare I say, her trousers absolutely look like something Meghan would choose. Wide-leg, slightly too long so there’s “puddling” at the hem. Well well.

I support anyone who wants to wear pantsuits wearing pantsuits and the blouse is a nice, meaningful touch, but … there is something off about this. Is it the oddly prominent belt buckle? The proportions? I can’t put my finger on it.

    • Charfromdarock says:

Prominent belt buckles are the new buttons.

    • Chica1971 says:

Odd.. It looks like an airline ticket agent uniform. Delta

    • equality says:

The belt looks like the one William is wearing. It’s more like she’s trying to match up with him.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

I applaud that she is trying news things. I don’t applaud her trying to steal her sister in law’s style after years of the press telling us royal women don’t wear trouser suits because the Queen hates trousers on women.

      • PEARL GREY says:

I recall the commotion some tried to cause over how “sloppy”, “unroyal”, “badly tailored” and “unprofessional” Meghan’s long, wide leg trousers were at her first Scotland visit and again at Wimbledon. Now watch the same people praise this being “chic” and “fashion forward”.

      • Ainsley7 says:

@Pearl – It was sloppy and unprofessional on Meghan. It’s just as sloppy and unprofessional on Kate too. It’s a bad look. People say it makes you look taller, but it always makes people look shorter to me.

      • PEARL GREY says:

@AINSLEY7, regardless of whether some people think this look is indeed “sloppy” and “unprofessional” or not, the majority of those who slung those comments at Meghan when she wore it will not be doing the same against Kate now that she is wearing it. The double standard continues.

      • Redgrl says:

@ainsley – yep – the too long pants dragging on the ground looked sloppy on Meghan and it looks sloppy on Kate. Not a good look for anyone.

      • Rita says:

Way back when belled bottoms first came round, the hem was “supposed to” be at the juncture of heel and shoe in the back, and fall straight in front to the instep or perhaps have a slight break in the front. No puddle pants. How long are pants dragging on the floor going to last?

      • Isabella says:

I think Kate really does think she’s a CEO.

    • Kitten says:

She has gobs of money, connections and favour, and built thin so everything should fall perfectly from shoulder to floor, so why do her clothes never seem to fit her?

Please, for the love of fashion and my sanity, can someone explain to me why she always seems to look as if she raided someone else’s wardrobe at the last minute?

      • Merricat says:

Because she has no personal style that reflects her personality. Money buys quality and quantity, but not taste.

      • Kitten says:

Merricat, these people — people like her and especially her — they have PEOPLE and whose job it is — and by JOB I mean they get paid to do this — to be absolutely certain that NO ONE they dress looks like they just darted out from mummy’s closet when someone yelled “Blue Peter’s on!” and there might be tea and cakes involved.

Please tell me you can understand why this hurts my brain, because FML THIS HURTS MY BRAIN. She’s pushing forty, she should already have at least a clue what works on her by now. Truly, I cannot comprehend this. It fries my neural pathways. Top CEO is Top “See me? NO!”

      • Merricat says:

Yes, I’m aware of the privileges that such a life provides.

      • Looty says:

Maybe if we saw her in the other options they put together for her, we’d understand why they chose this.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Kate also can’t accessorise an outfit to save her life. That belt is a horror with that outfit, and to my eyes, the blues are just “off”. If she wanted to wear that blue shirt, pick up one of the rainbow colors along the button-line for the suit, red…green (like that peacock dress she has), even winter white would be good. All that blue? Break it up with a different colored belt/shoes.

Feh…she is hopeless. A total chameleon who takes its look/color from its surroundings.

      • Becks1 says:

I think she has a stylist but Kate probably overrides her a lot or just adds something when the stylist’s back is turned. Like I can see the stylist picking the blouse and the pants and Kate being like BUT WAIT IT MUST BE A PANTSUIT I WEAR THOSE NOW!!!!

      • Dilettante says:

Kate thinks she knows better than the stylists who are paid to put together her wardrobe.

      • Emma33 says:

@Kitten – this absolutely fascinates me too! I am really bad at picking clothes, but what I do is go shopping with my sister (who is great at it) and instead of looking in the mirror I just stand in front of her and she says yes or no.

Kate’s dresses often look like they’ve been designed by 3 different people, they are weirdly childlike and also matronly. I think she gets a designer dress and then insists on changes to make it shorter or tighter or add buttons etc, and the whole thing ends up looking like some weird creation that no-one else would wear.

I think you can see the same thing going on with this pantsuit.

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

My mother has been aghast most of my life at how unladylike I am but even I know how to dress myself in fitting clothes and clean up. This is done on purpose to her.

This just goes along with my theory her outfits are chosen for her and there’s a subtle sign from Elizabeth to put on some weight and look healthier. Elizabeth is passive aggressive enough to do that to Kate.

      • February-Pisces says:

All of Kate’s clothes look so dead on her. She spends a hell of a lot of money but doesn’t know how to pull off an outfit. The clothes seem to wear her, not the other way round. She has a figure and height of most models so you would think clothes would look great, but she just doesn’t seem to pull it off. I think it’s mostly down to her poor style choices and the fact she has literally no confidence in her self. Confidence goes a long way in making something look great. Plus her style is very matronly and ages her beyond her years.

      • Kitten says:

Thank you, one and all, for your responses. Because I don’t get it. It just does not compute.

        Here’s a jacket.
        Try it on.
        Does it fit?
        No.
        TAKE IT OFF.

See how NOT complicated that is?

This is not difficult, nor should it be, especially for a sighted woman pushing forty. What an absolute embarrassment we parade about on a global stage.

    • Vava says:

There are many things that are ‘off’ about this ensemble. It’s not a suit because the fabric of the jacket is different than that of the pants. If you want a suit, get a suit where the jacket and pants are made from the same fabric. If the jacket had been a tweed, or something with a pattern, the pants would be good with it. Or vice versa. I’m very surprised Kate doesn’t know this. The belt buckle is a distraction. The pants are too long and ill-fitting. I’m lukewarm on that blouse, I guess it’s OK. meh.

      • Dilettante says:

And, is her waist where the belt is, or where the buttons on the jacket are?

      • Nic919 says:

That belt is the same one she needlessly puts on dresses in an effort to give herself a waist. It’s not working here. If you look at where William’s belt sits and where hers is placed she has got it yanked way too high to try to give herself the illusion of longer legs. And she’s so thin that she is drowning in the trouser fabric. I didn’t love the look on Meghan either, but her trousers were fitted better at the waist

      • SomeChick says:

William’s belt is giving me cop belly belt vibes – I think it’s either too low or else he’s getting paunchy.

I’ve never liked floor length pants, on anyone. I know it’s kind of a thing – I’ve seen it on red carpets – but I think it looks like she has no feet.

    • Jo73c says:

      Top CEO business lady cosplay

    • betsyh says:

A much shorter jacket would complement the wide, long pants.

  2. starryfish29 says:

The jacket and pants look like they belong to two different suits and it makes it look kinda sloppy.

    • Nic919 says:

The jacket with that cutout is meant to be worn over a skirt and so it looks silly. It is also more fitted than the trousers which also clashes.

    • Cee says:

I agree. I see different shades of blue but that could be my computer.

    • Sarah says:

They do, it’s a blazer and totally different trousers. Why would you do that when you have all the money to buy a nice blue suit if you want head to toe blue.

      • Lady2Lazy says:

@ Sarah, because her ONLY desire here is to copy her fabulous and fashion forward SIL who knows how to dress and accessorize, but Keen can’t even get herself out of a paper bag!! She is utterly clueless!! The jacket and pant are not from the same designer and that belt is hideous!! It must be Wilileaks!! No personal style, just playing copycat and doing it poorly!! And yes Keen, we SEE you trying to copy Meghan and your grade is F, for failing miserably at fashion and as a human being.

  3. Anna says:

Fine with me. They look good, the cause is
    important. Well done

  4. Sofia says:

The blouse is on par with her theme dressing but she’s definitely taken it a step further this time (normally she just matches the colours) lol. As for the pantsuit itself, I don’t particularly like it. I think the proportions are a bit off. She’s known for having her outfits well tailored but I feel like her tailoring has fallen for a while now

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yes, you can tell that the blazer and trousers don’t match. She suits the colours so theres that.

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah, the problem here – like others have noticed, is that its NOT a pantsuit. She’s had that blazer for years and the pants don’t go with it. It’s also too much blue IMO and the different shade of the blouse and the blazer don’t work together. If she had skipped the blazer entirely, or wore an actual pantsuit, it would have looked a lot better, IMO. When you wear a blazer and then a skirt or trousers on the bottom that aren’t part of the same set, you need to coordinate carefully (and usually offset in different colors, like a bright color blazer with black pants or something.) This is just a bizarre look in some ways for me because….why didn’t she just buy a pantsuit?!?!?

  5. FHMom says:

Too many contrasting shades of blue. The colors clash. However, I love the cut of the pants.

  6. Ginger says:

I remember when Kate stans ripped Meghan apart for wearing pants that were very long. Now it’s fine and so classy!

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Exactly. And no one is shouting their favourite word HYPOCRISY from the roof tops either.

  7. Bibi says:

I support pantsuits and the people who want to wear them too. Rather nice suit today on Kate. I think Kate will be wearing a lot more of those since the couple is known for being lazy – this might help realign the public perception instead of those flowy flowery dresses. You know, the reason why Kate loves dresses is probably also out of laziness. She doesnt want to work on matching the top with the bottom, less waste of time, more time to vacay.

  8. Lemons says:

She is swimming in those pants.

Kate needs to decide if she is fully going to lean into the professional woman workwear wardrobe and if she is going to be modern or not.

This is clearly a flashback to Meghan’s more elegant pantsuits, but she’s afraid to show her body, and ends up with pants that don’t fit. I don’t get why she tailored them so long. I didn’t like the too-long look with Meghan, but the pants still fit her…

    Also…is she wearing a rainbow-printed blouse? What?

    • Becks1 says:

Apparently rainbows are a symbol of the NHS, so that explains that, and blue is the color of the NHS (I’m American, this is just based on what I’ve read lol) so Kate really leaned into it here lol.

      • HeatherC says:

Well she does like to theme dress. I’m sure someone put their foot down and said she couldn’t cosplay a doctor in scrubs so she came up with this.

      • Lemons says:

She could have worn a pin like a true statesman or a piece of jewelry. It just looks so childish. As I keep saying, she needs a stylist.

A fitted-pantsuit with a navy turtleneck and a rainbow necklace or brooch by a British jewelry designer.

    • Kitten says:

“She is swimming in those pants.”

      Lemon, this causes me pain.

I cannot fathom how a grown woman can be so consistently bad at …. DRESSING HERSELF … in clothes that look like they are actually meant for her…

      and I. am. knackered.

      • Nic919 says:

And it’s not like she too busy with actual work not to sort this out. She clearly doesn’t have friends who tell her the truth with her clothing choices.

      • Lemons says:

I saw your rant above, and I absolutely agree. Who is getting paid for this! She must be a dream to dress and yet she walks out looking like a stylist’s nightmare.

      • Kitten says:

Nic and Lemon, when I say I’m knackered, I well and truly mean it. This middle-aged woman and her inability to know what might look even decent on her person is exhausting. WHO DOESN’T KNOW HOW PANTS WORK? This hurts my brain.

      • Nic919 says:

This is someone who asked with a straight face “ can you taste the smell by smelling?” So that’s who still hasn’t figured out professional trousers yet at age 39.

      • Kitten says:

You should come with a warning label, Nic. That was lethal. Thanks for the laugh. 😉

  9. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

Imagine being this devoid of either imagination or personality.

  10. Amy Bee says:

Absolutely no complaints of breaking protocol for Kate. Amazing! It’s just too bad that all those magazines and other publications fell for that smear campaign against Meghan.

    • Lady2Lazy says:

@ Amy Bee, that is the worst part about Keens new “look”, which is apparently a bad take on Meghans style, but is seen as an incredible look for Keen, but the way everyone slammed Meghan is unforgivable given that Keen was on the top of that list!! Stone and sling insults at Meghan as she tries to steal Meghans style and look, which she clearly fails at very well! It seems that money can buy you all of the best in clothes, but style is not happening here. Never has and never will!!

  11. Harper says:

The blouse clashes but that bulky belt is the biggest offender to me. There is something too conventional about the cut of the suit jacket that makes me think Meghan would have taken a pass on this look.

    • Aidevee says:

That belt needs to be burnt, then sent to another universe and never seen again, it’s shocking! It makes her look like a 1990s weather presenter and not in a good way!!

  12. Chlo says:

She still managed to make everything look dowdy.

    • scollins says:

Agree. And the bar is so low with her that sometimes we start to give her more credit than is due. In this situation Kate looks like my aunt in the 60s wearing her scouting uniform.

  13. Becks1 says:

Do we think William feels the slightest bit ashamed when he meets with someone whose husband has been sick since March with COVID – March, when William was making jokes about it in Ireland?

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

@Becks1 No, we don’t. We don’t think that PWT is capable of remorse, or any emotion that doesn’t accord with his insanely privileged existence.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I really do think he THOUGHT he was being funny. But because he lacks *true* empathy for anyone other than himself, he really couldn’t see how/why that “joke” was SO awful! He truly has NO emotional IQ.

    • ShazBot says:

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t remember even making the jokes. These engagements likely leave his head the second they are done.

  14. Jane Doe says:

That’s a very poorly put together outfit, considering the amount of clothing she has. It looks ill-fitting and dowdy. A fuller pant leg would look better with fitted knitwear on top, or an actual matched pantsuit with a slightly slimmer leg (not tight like she always does). A woman this slim in pants of this size is gonna look like David Byrne from Talking Heads.

  15. Wiglet Watcher says:

All they can do is show up on occasion with cameras and pretend to care. Then they leave and that’s that.

We’d have all praised Kate years ago if she wore pants. We did actually. And then she showed her racist, ugly face that bullies a pregnant woman that just existed and Kate felt her popularity falling. That was it.

  16. L84Tea says:

Meh, this is no good. Too may shades of blue and the cut is just off somehow. The only pants ensemble Kate has pulled off successfully was her very first–when she stepped off that plane in Greece with William. She wore beautiful black slacks, a cream top, and an olive green blazer, and it she looked amazing. Every other attempt has been a flop.

    • Becks1 says:

YES that was a good outfit. and it worked because it was fairly simple, the colors were basic but nice, and her hair looked good that day too – and everything fit pretty well.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

I fear she may be listening to too many back seat stylists hence the inconsistencies and mixed messaging which leaves her with no defined style to call her own.

      • L84Tea says:

It’s really all over the place. And it’s clear she has no idea who she really is nor how to express her own style. She’s spent the last decade dressing like QEII or Diana, and now she’s channeling Meghan (which is beyond obvious now). In the Waity years, she seemed to have a more solid look with simple jeans and blazers, but even then she was still trying to look the Sloane part, and occasionally the Jecca part. I’m not sure she’s ever had a true personal style.

  17. Kitty says:

They’re just so boring now! No impact or influence whatsoever.

  18. Nic919 says:

Are the NHS workers going to get a raise or something? Just wondering the point of these awards. This seems pretty pointless for the workers just trying to make it through the day. Many also work shift work and are not likely to even watch a tv programme. The clapping by everyone was a nice symbol at first but at some point these workers are going to need something more concrete, be it more resources for the added stress they are dealing with or more protective equipment.

    • Becks1 says:

A friend of mine who is a NP here in the States posted a long comment on FB – she’s usually not political at all but this time she was – she said in it something along the lines of “in March and April, everyone was saying “thank you healthcare workers” and then you all went to bars and restaurants and vacations and refused to wear your masks” etc. Her comment was aimed at people who don’t believe the virus is real, the federal government who just completely blew it, and also the people who were falling over themselves 6 months ago to post messages to healthcare workers, but then didn’t back that up with any actions once they got tired of quarantine. I think the last point is how many healthcare workers feel in the US and probably the UK as well – clapping and awards and pretty FB posts are nice. But the workers need a lot more than that.

    • equality says:

I think they have been outdone by ex-royal Fergie. Throughout the quarantine while Kate and Will were “clapping” for the NHS, Fergie was working with various companies to organize breakfasts, lunches, gift bags of food, lotions and other things for NHS workers. She has given credit to over 35 different organizations she was working with to provide things to NHS workers.

      • Nic919 says:

While Fergie is shady in many ways, that was far more valuable work than the clapping bs.
The Cambridges have not put themselves out at all to help NHS workers and presenting these awards don’t help the, survive the day to day hardships of providing care for the victims of the pandemic.

  19. boobra says:

Oh look…Justin and Britney Denim 2.No

  20. equality says:

I’m confused by the award. Is it for all NHS workers or just for this one hospital? If it is for all, why did just a few people from this one facility get public recognition? I’m more impressed by the charities that donated things to the NHS to help all of the workers than with the Mirror giving one trophy to over a million people.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

That would mean they’d have to do more than a photo op if a trophy/award presentation isn’t good enough. That doesn’t happen.

  21. Becks1 says:

    wrong place

  22. Aurora says:

She really needs to thank Meghan for opening up her wardrobe possibilities. I really get the sense Kate hadn’t even considered proper trousers and pantsuits until Meghan paved the way. Kate was really going to ride or die with coat dresses until the end. Now Kate is a trouser-wearing machine.

  23. Aang says:

Pants that drag on the ground are gross. They must get so dirty. And aren’t they a tripping hazard? Plus it just looks sloppy.

    • LittlePenguin says:

I am short, and whenever I get pants hemmed I ALWAYS ask for them to be a half centimeter (less than a quarter of an inch) shorter so they don’t drag on the ground and get filthy/wrecked. I don’t understand the puddling on the ground look at all for that reason.

    • betsyh says:

Kate has short legs in proportion to her body. She probably wanted the long hem to make her legs look longer. But I agree, it does not look good.

    • Eugh says:

Agreed. Doesn’t look good on VB, doesn’t look good on Meghan and it doesn’t look good on Kate either

  24. Steph says:

This outfit looks terrible. Those pants are just wrong on her. I feel like wide leg pants should still be fitted in the waist and upper thighs. Also the shirt is a little too big to be worn with that blazer. If she was going for the oversized shirt look that Meg loves she should have ditched the blazer or worn one that was a straight cut and oversized as well.

  25. Kimberly says:

I used to sell men’s wear and one of the first things I was taught was to never sell a black sport coat with black trousers. They won’t match. If you want a suit, buy a suit. She’s wearing a navy jacket with navy trousers. They don’t match. And ya, totally cosplaying her SIL.

  26. Soupie says:

For me this outfit is a fail. The overall look is low rent, except for the pants. I also think it overly accentuates her too slender frame. Kate is naturally built slender but I also think she’s borderline anorexic (though her face doesn’t look anorexic).

  27. Oatmeal says:

Ok but why are the pants so ill fitting???

  28. Julia K. says:

I always have read that she has a full time stylist who shops for her as well as choosing her outfits. Pants way too long. New trend?

  29. Mamasan says:

I think William’s pants look weird to be honest.

    • betsyh says:

Yes, I was just about to post this!

    • Becks1 says:

They look really weird but that could just be how he’s standing, or could be static cling? But they look weird too.

    • ShazBot says:

I don’t think he’s wearing a suit, I think he’s wearing navy khaki-ish slacks and a navy blazer. He does that sometimes when it’s “less formal”.

  30. Bluj1515 says:

The jacket is at least a decade old and Smythe is a great brand but this isn’t some heirloom Chanel piece. Can you imagine the great expense they must go to to maintain the entirety of her old “public” wardrobe of Zara dresses and midrange pieces in order for her to periodically rewear this nonsense? (“Public” is in quotes bc the few pics we have of her say, attending a party at Pippa’s show her in designer dresses.) Beyond the colors not matching, the jacket and pants are also completely different fabrics. The pants have a sheen. The button down does nothing for her because her chest and stomach are concave. The belt is as prominent as it is because the area above her hips is the first thing that has a curve.

  31. Lory says:

How I love the irony! These two couldn’t WAIT for Harry and Megan to leave so they could get all the attention. But this story picked up no steam yesterday on the Daily Mail. So again clearly, the problem was not that they were being overshadowed by fame whores, but because they are just SO DAMN BORING.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Doubt they wanted h and m gone so they had all the attention. I think it was so they were never upstaged. Because why try harder when you can bully and exile people that outshine you?
They wanted to continue to coast and that’s what they’re doing.

      • Lory says:

I still think it hurts their delicate sensibilities that if Megan coughs it’s front page news and they barely make a blip.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

Because all they are is an image. They can’t understand people they see as beneath them can have more attention or have any praise at all. It’s a sad existence to be those types of people. That view all others as competition. Or like Trump, if they cannot personally enrich themselves they’re expendable.

  32. Lwt00 says:

Lord but this look is bad! The jacket looks like it was meant to go with a skirt, the jacket and pants don’t coordinate, The pants are much too big (especially when she’s next to William; his pants are more fitted than hers!) and long!

What is going on here??? Why does she look so bad all the time? Like, how hard is it to pick out a classic suit, throw a blouse under it and add some earrings? Good grief.

  33. Jezebel's Lacefront says:

Tailors are amazing. She needs one stat.

  34. Sarah says:

To quote the wonderful ladies at GFY – HEM YOUR PANTS KATE.

  35. Trillian says:

Kate and William look like they accidentally switched pants.

  36. Christine Stephens says:

I must have bad taste lol. I think she looks good. She is so tall and lean, she can pull this off. I think that maybe pant suits are polarizing. If you don’t like them….then you just don’t.

  37. Ana says:

I know kate looks like 10 kinds of hell here, but really, what is up with Willi’s Bozo shoes?
The jokes write themselves with those two.

  38. February-Pisces says:

They look like bank managers, especially Kate.

  39. MerlinsMom1018 says:

Why do they always look so BORED when the other one is speaking? SHE tilts her head and looks a million miles away when he speaks; HE looks like he wishes she would just shut up already.
    These two….😒

  40. Nina says:

Why are her trousers not hemmed correctly? Why are Will’s shoes so long? Goodness, it looks like he’s wearing clown shoes…

    • L4frimaire says:

I thought the same thing. That style of shoe does not flatter his big feet. Maybe leather wingtips or a classic loafer would be better. He has no style at all.

  41. TheOriginalMia says:

I was waiting for her to fall from stepping on the hem of those pants. The whole outfit is a mishmash of meh. Why not a nice suit with matching jacket and pants? I know she’s honoring the NHS essential workers, but that shirt is a big fat no. Too casual for what she’s wearing. That belt? Lord…that belt. Burn it.

  42. HeatherC says:

And this woman was touted as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw.

  43. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

That excessive pant length is a serious trip hazard on anyone. I’m not here for it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • kelleybelle says:

They are too long and drag on the ground, and get dirty and ripped. Not good … and Meghan wore that type of pant long before Kate ever did.

  44. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Is it just me or does it seem like this outfit has been chosen for Kate rather than something she chose? I think we will be seeing lots of pant suits during Charles’ reign, much to Kate’s chagrin.

    • Julia K. says:

As I said above in an earlier comment, I believe she has a stylist buy for her on approval who also chooses her outfits for public engagements

  45. Oh says:

I remember two years ago when Meghan wore that black suit in wellchild awards, karen stans were mocking Meghan’s body and they said that her legs look like a pencil..Ok well but are they blind or what?? karen is nothing but a body without soul and her legs look literally like a pencil in all her photos that she is wearing pants

  46. MerryGirl says:

Poor thing….trying to cosplay her SIL and failing miserably. Wills look is equally sloppy.

  47. Reece says:

She looks like she’s on security detail, not at an award appearance.

Wearing all blue just blends and/or clashes and nothing stands out. A neutral suit with the shirt would have let it stand out.

    • Nic919 says:

That’s it. She’s got the Hollywood actress plays police detective look on newest version of CSI clone.

  48. Likeyoucare says:

By next week she will be wearing leather pants.

  49. L4frimaire says:

They’re not a very stylish couple but their focus group has decided this is how they must dress to look modern without actually being modern. Out with the coat dresses, in with the pantsuits.

  50. Linda says:

She looks fine. His feet look weirdly large.

  51. Awkward symphony says:

So they wore the masks on entry but not whe it matters i, e; around the health care staff. Basically replaying Melania’s “I dont care, do you” jacket fiasco 😒
And I see none of the tabloids are talking about her spending like when they do for Meghan. How nice for her to know that she wont get criticism thanx to her whiteness. The whole outfit looked mismatched. As she likes altering outfits she could’ve just made the blue top into a dress. It was the perfect occasion to “recycle” one of her many blue dresses

  52. Amanda says:

Kates hair is beautiful, really beautiful hair. But it’s also oddly old fashioned and dated?

  53. The Recluse says:

    Kate is such a try-hard.

  54. Donna says:

Is it me or does william seem to wear the same shoes with every outfit, i.e, suede or velvet black shoes? I remember reading comments from britons about harry & the brown suede shoes he used to wear with his outfits, i.e archie’s christening. People were really nasty towards harry.

  55. Merricat says:

Kate is a fashion hack, and has been for years.

  56. Tess says:

Even when she gets it mostly right, the proportions are slightly off. She looks great, long and lean just like the fan girls love, but the hem is about an inch off. “Puddling” is for curtains not trousers, she looks like one of those people in stilts.

  57. A Fan says:

The pants are too long, but everything else is very flattering on her.

[*No excuse for too long pants.*]

  58. CrystalBall says:

Kate in her new blue uniform – but is it a nurse’s or rather a bus conductor’s or a flight attendant’s or just the usual royal dress-up uniform? She has no substance so she thinks wearing the right costume is enough. (Of course, she is dressed as William’s assistant! She said she has been his assistant for a long time. I’ll bet she has!)
