NEW IN THE ILLINOIS MEDICAL DISTRICT: OCTOBER 2018
FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The IMD has released a request for information (RFI) from both potential customers and providers as we evaluate the viability of an ultra-high-speed broadband network and related services to serve current and future stakeholders within the District.

If your organization is located in the IMD and you are interested in participating in discussions about the potential for shared broadband infrastructure and services, we ask that you respond to  the questions on pages 13-14 of the RFI by October 31, 2018. This will help us develop a more detailed assessment of stakeholder needs for broadband infrastructure and services.
If your company is a provider of broadband infrastructure and/or related services, we ask that you respond to the questions on pages 11-13 of the RFI linked below by October 31, 2018. We are interested in innovative approaches to funding, building and providing broadband-related services. Please note that submitting a response to this RFI will not result in a contract.

Please review the RFI for more details, including background on the IMD and how to submit a response. If you have any questions, please email Greg Wass. Questions regarding the RFI should be submitted by October 15, 2018.

EDIBLE, EXPERIMENTAL: WALDORF EDUCATION ARRIVES IN THE IMD
Has a splash of blue and green caught your eye at the corner of 13th and Ashland? Health-filled preschool to 8th grade Waldorf education has arrived in the IMD, with the move of Urban Prairie Waldorf School to 1310 S. Ashland. The school is already breathing new life into the indoor and outdoor spaces.
Environmental stewardship is integrated into the UPWS pre-K curriculum. With the move to a new and larger space, the school has an exciting outdoor vision that includes native prairie areas, an edible forest, permaculture and biodynamic gardens.

Urban Prairie's project includes planting an edible forest with nine fruit trees, making ripening fruit available for both students and passersby. Urban Prairie invites all of its IMD neighbors to come and see how their garden grows!
