Cooking fire injures 1 in Navarre

A fire Monday night at Cayo Grande Apartments on Navarre Parkway marks the fourth candle extinguished on the Santa Rosa County’s “Keep Your Holidays Bright” fire safety tree.

One man was taken to Baptist Hospital with burn injuries, according to a new release issued by the county.

Santa Rosa County Emergency Communications was notified of the fire at 6:07 p.m., and firefighters arrived at athe partment complex at 6:13 p.m. Crews from Holley- Navarre and Navarre Beach fire departments responded.

The fire was believed to have been caused from cooking. The blaze caused minimal damage to the apartment but significant water damage was caused by the fire sprinkler system, the news release said.
