As a personal coach, I believe that self-esteem is a powerful tool that enables us to be who or what we want to become. Yes, there’s nothing more important than how you think and feel about yourself. Your belief in yourself is what will make it possible for you to do the things you want, and achieve all your dreams in life.

You may find those reasons vague or too general, so let me give you the specific reasons why it’s important for you to build and maintain high self confidence.

Loving yourself more makes your life lighter and simpler.

When you have high self-esteem, you won’t beat yourself up and pull yourself down over the mistakes you make. You believe in yourself and the things you’re capable of, so you won’t have any doubt that you can make things better.

Self confidence makes you stronger and more stable from within.

People with high self-esteem are not likely to seek attention and validation from other people. If you have high regard for yourself, you will become less needy of other people’s approval. You also won’t easily get affected by what they say or think about you because you know yourself very well.

You can avoid self-sabotage.

Self empowerment  happen to people who have low self-esteem. When you are doubtful of yourself and your abilities, you will easily feel that you’re not deserving of everything good that life has to offer. But when you’re confident, you are motivated to become better because you know you can be.

Now that you know the benefits of being self-confident, you might be wondering how you can improve your self-esteem. Well, here are some tips that I hope will help you improve and maintain your belief in yourself.

  1. Control your inner critic. You need to replace the voice of your inner critic for you to raise your self confidence. When you hear yourself saying negative things about you, just decide to stop and start thinking about positive things instead.
  1. Focus on what you really love to do. When you’re doing something you’re passionate about, it becomes easier for you to be motivated. And when you’re motivated, you’ll find ways to be better, and this leads to you becoming more confident about yourself.
  1. Appreciate yourself on a regular basis. It only takes 2 minutes every day for you to appreciate yourself. You have to be the first person to see how special you are, and you should be proud of the things you do well. Doing this can recharge you with lots of positive energy.
  1. Be kind to other people. Being kind and generous to other people is one way of self empowerment. How you treat other people is likely to be the way others will treat you as well. And when people are kind to you, you will think of yourself in a kind way, too, which is a huge confidence-booster.
