In talking to Citrix partners, I often get this question:

My customer is moving to Office 365, how can ShareFile help answer their enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) and collaboration needs?

ShareFile complements Office 365 by providing a few added benefits, such as on-premises StorageZones (including using your own Azure storage), connectors to existing data repositories, integrations with XenApp and XenDesktop, data protection with information rights management and integrations with existing DLP providers.

In addition to the enterprise-grade sync-and-share capabilities, you can enhance your users’ experience with O365 by leveraging these 3 value-add integrations:

  1. Co-author Office files directly from within the ShareFile Web Application and enhanced integrations with Microsoft’s iOS mobile applications.
  2. ShareFile Connectors for Microsoft Office 365 repositories, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.
  3. ShareFile Outlook Plug-in.

If you wish to watch a demo of all three examples listed below, you can do so here.

ShareFile integrates with Office Online and Microsoft Mobile apps:

Earlier this year, we announced further integrations with Microsoft Office Online with the introduction of co-authoring. Co-authoring takes Citrix ShareFile’s collaboration tools to the next level, allowing multiple users to edit Office documents within the ShareFile web application in a single session. No more sending a file to multiple users, making sure each user is properly using check-in/ check-out or merging everyone’s changes.

If you are a road warrior or work from your mobile device often, you can now add your ShareFile account to your Microsoft Mobile Apps – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Through this new integration, users can either start in a Microsoft mobile app to preview or edit documents living in ShareFile. If preferred, users can also start from within the ShareFile app, select the file they wish to preview or edit and choose “open with Microsoft (App).” This new integration allows users to still be productive even if they only have a phone or tablet to work from.

Connectors for Office 365:

A core aspect of our ShareFile Enterprise vision is “integrate with what you have today.” We embrace the realization that not every customer will be able to migrate their data right away to ShareFile so to help end user stay productive we developed connectors to many storage repositories. With the rise and popularity of Microsoft Office 365, we developed connectors to both SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. The ShareFile Connector for Office 365 allows users to access and edit their SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business accounts from ShareFile, providing enterprises with the flexibility to determine how and where users store files while not hampering the end users ability to get their job done.

ShareFile Outlook Plug-in:

ShareFile was initially built on the premise of “large and secure file transfers” and we have not forgotten our roots. With the ShareFile Outlook Plug-in, users are able to send large and secure files through Microsoft Outlook for Windows without imposing on their traditional workflows. At Citrix Synergy this year, we also introduced a long awaited enhancement to the ShareFile Outlook Plug-in for our Enterprise customers, Encrypted Email. With the Outlook Plug-in, users are now able to encrypt the entire body of the message instead of just the attachments!
