Derrick Henry breaks Alabama career rushing record

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Add another record for Derrick Henry.

The Alabama junior became the Crimson Tide's career rushing leader in the College Football Playoff Championship on Monday night. Henry tied the mark on the first run of the second half and broke it on the second possession.

Henry passed Shaun Alexander's 3,565 from 1996-96 in the title game against Clemson. He needed 132 yards entering the game to tie the mark. After one half, Henry had 128 yards on 20 carries -- equaling his workload in the Cotton Bowl.

The Alabama season-rushing mark already belongs to Henry. He entered Monday with 2,061 yards, well past Trent Richardson's 1,679 from 2011.

Henry scored two touchdowns in the first half against Clemson, from 50 yards, then another from the 1.
