Good news for the Alpe d'Huez ski area, as Vaujany has announced they will be spending 32.5 million euros over the next few years on the ski area and other improvements.

Between this summer and 2020, 21 million euros will be spent on the ski area alone, which will see a facelift for the cable car, and improvements to some of the pistes.

First to see some work this summer will be the piste de Travers which will be dug out to make it less steep and imposing, making access from the plateau de Montfrais easier. Cost - €485,000.

A new blue piste will be built coming back into resort, linking Villette and l'Enversin d'Oz. Cost - €3.35 million.

The Enversin gondola will be replaced with a 10 person capacity gondola, but not until 2018. Cost - €7.5 million.

In 2019 the Clos Giraud chair lift will be replaced with a faster chair lift. Cost - €8 million.

A "Voie Verte" or green trail is also being planned for the Col du Sabot. These trails form part of a national network and are reserved for walkers, cyclists and touring.

Remodelling will also be taking place in summer 2017 on the beginner area at Montfrais, the slalom and the snowpark.

There won't be that many noticeable changes for this winter coming, but there will be plenty going on over the next few years.
