The Voice of My People Scholarship Grants support students committed to social justice who are making strides in creating a more fair and just world.
Our first named scholarships, available for school year 2016-2017, are 2 Papel Family Trust scholarships at $2,500 each. These 2 grants are specifically designated to support students who identify as LGBTQ, or whose parent(s) identify as LGBTQ. We are hopeful we will securing additional donations in future years resulting in additional scholarship grants.
In the spring 2016 funding cycle, we will accept the first 50 qualifying applications in the order in which they were received, or until March 15, 2016, whichever comes first. Grants are for one school year only; grantees may apply for additional years by filling out a new application each year, but previous awards will not be considered in the selection process.
Scholarships are available to individuals who have completed high school (or the GED) by June of 2016 and have been accepted to an accredited institution at the community college, university, or graduate school level. Scholarships are available to students in part or full-time programs at fully accredited institutions; we are unable to provide grants for online degrees.
For the 2016 cycle, students must be a US Citizen or permanent resident. Preference is given to students who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate leadership capacity and who are interested in making a concrete difference in society.
Finalists will be required to provide transcript and proof of acceptance, or continued studies, for 2016-2017 at an accredited institution.
