At least one of the Deadwood movies you’ve been hearing about is finally cooking, TV Line reports. At an HBO TCA party, the network’s president of programming told the publication he’s granted creator David Milch the full go-ahead for a brief revival. (Previously, their conversation had been very preliminary.) “[Milch] pitched what he thought, generally, the story line would be — and knowing David, that could change. But [a movie]’s going to happen,” Michael Lombardo explained. “I’ve known him for a while and it feels like it’s something he’s not done talking about.”

Milch is busy at the moment, but the next Deadwood script is reportedly the second thing on his to-do list, just one slot ahead of making sure everybody can actually reunite for it. To that end, though, the show’s Jim Beaver has told us he doesn’t “know anybody who was on Deadwood who wouldn’t try to find a way to come back.” So rest easier, but don’t stop praying for that closure.
