If approved, San Mateo County’s first licensed cannabis farm will be called Half Moon Grow and is nestled into Frenchman's Creek Road, north of Half Moon Bay. Photo courtesy Aneese Bishara

When Aneese Bishara and Ed Wilkinson decided to grow cannabis on the Coastside, they spent $250,000 of their own money to get started. As a result, by December 2018, they say they could barely afford food.

“It was all of our savings and we were totally broke,” Wilkinson said. “... We risked it all.”

I'm concerned that one of the proprietors is joking to the reporter about the odor that may be coming from this operation, as she assumes that the wind is always offshore and will only affect the landfill. The wind does shift and sometimes cones from the east, however, in which case any odor that is uncontrolled will directly affect residences in Half Moon Bay. That will be no laughing matter for us.

They have to comply with strict odor control measures. far beyond what is stated in the article. Not to mention the project is tucked away in the back of a canyon.

Odor?! Opiates have been killing 60,000+ American children, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers for the better part of a decade. Where was your outrage then? Now we're worried about the smell of weed competing with the smell of garbage when the wind blows just right toward your home.
