Parking Changes in 2016

image

Downtown parking is something we hear about quite a bit. While there is still more work to be done, improvements have been made this year and even more great things will roll out this year, too.

2015

Installed new wayfinding signs

We’ve been trying to make it easier for you to know where parking is available downtown. New wayfinding signs have been installed and, according to our surveys, the public is liking them so far.

Mobile Payments

You wanted to be able to pay for your meter from your smartphone and we listened! We rolled out a pilot program for mobile payment at meters so that you can add time to your meter when it’s about to run out from your meeting or meal.

Las Vegas Named To Best Parking List

As a result of changes over the past several years, we were recently recognized by the International Parking Institute for our innovative solutions to many parking headaches, especially downtown.

Restructuring of rates and enforcement times

We did a complete redo of rates, enforcement days and times and how on-street parking permits are sold. We know this caused confusion and headaches for some of you but it was a response to the changing parking climate downtown.

Looking Forward To 2016

Ramped Up Mobile Payment

Expect more changes to our mobile payment system, including it rolling out to parking meters across the city instead of only downtown.

New Parking Garage

Construction will start on at least one new parking garage downtown, alleviating further parking headaches.

Real Time Parking Availability

The ParkMe app (available in iTunes and Google Play) already tells users where to find available parking but expect more improvements in getting real time parking availability, especially downtown.
