Jose Andres Will Open a Massive Food Hall at Hudson Yards [UPDATED]

Update, 3:31 p.m.: Ferran and Albert Adrià, perhaps the most famous modernist chefs in the world, have officially signed on to this project. The brothers behind El Bulli and Jose Andres form a veritable Spanish dream team — there are eight Michelin stars between the three chefs.

One of the most famous chefs in the world, D.C. based Jose Andres has signed a deal to open a 35,000 square-foot Spanish food hall at 10 Hudson Yards under the High Line at 30th Street and 10th Avenue. Andres signing up for space at Hudson Yards has been years in the making, but the deal at this particular space is a switch-up, with a surprise move of Danny Meyer backing away from the address.

The New York Post reports that it’ll be like a Spanish-style Eataly, with a source cryptically saying that it will be like the massive Italian food hall, “. . . but different. It’s more than a food hall.”

The space will feature “all sorts of Spanish concepts, from slightly formal to tapas, wine bars and more.” It's unclear how that differs from Eataly, which offers all that and more. Look for an indoor-outdoor space and guest appearances from “the best Spanish minds, chefs, and artisans,” says a source.

In addition to his partnership with Related Companies in Hudson Yards, Andres is slated to open a restaurant this summer inside the SLS New York at 444 Park Ave. South along with French designer Philippe Starck and Sam Nazarian, CEO of sbe hospitality. The DC-based celebrity Spanish food chef has yet to have a restaurant in New York.
