A new project aims to eliminate the food desert in downtown Erie.  The Oasis Project will be opening up a food market in downtown for residents who can’t travel out of the city to get fresh food.

For years, downtown residents have had to pay double to buy fresh produce and farm products at convenience stores.  The Oasis Project’s mission is to have a direct relationship between the producer and consumer.

CEO Jonathan D’Silva says, “you gotta give back and it’s sort of my way to do that.  And, it’s a great way because I live right next door so I can come in and shop too, and it works out pretty well.”
