Good News! President Sprouls Announces NYSID's Excellent DesignIntelligence Rankings

Dear NYSID Community,

As you may know, each year DesignIntelligence, ranks the best architecture & design schools in America. You can see the full results of the current survey here, but we are proud to share with you today a summary of the results, which again places the New York School of Interior Design at the top of the class:

  • NYSID is the top ranked CIDA accredited Graduate program

  • NYSID is in the top 3 CIDA accredited Undergraduate programs

  • Once again, NYSID has been ranked as New York City’s “Most Hired from Institution” in Interior Design

  • NYSID is a top-ranked “Most Hired from Institution” nationally

  • NYSID is ranked in the top-3 for 23 of the 24 focus areas that are evaluated as part of the survey

Congratulations are also in order for our Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean, Dr. Ellen Fisher, who for the third time has ranked as a “Most Admired Educator” in the industry. The determination of “Most Admired Educator” is based on input from thousands of design professionals, academic department heads and students.

We are always particularly proud of our “Most Hired from Institution” rankings as they indicate we are meeting our mission to prepare aspiring interior designers and working professionals to be leaders in the field by providing a focused and immersive interior design education drawing upon expert faculty, innovative approaches, and close industry relationships. DesignIntelligence surveys hiring professionals to learn about the schools they most admire, the ones they hire from the most, and how recent graduates are performing in 12 key focus areas such as design theory and practice, design technology, and communication skills.

DesignIntelligence is an independent publication that has carried out an annual survey for the past 20 years, asking hiring managers of design firms where the majority of their newest employees (hired within the last five years) attended school, as well as what schools they most admire for their faculty, programs, culture, and student preparation. We are honored to have been highly ranked for the past decade, and will continue to work hard to keep those top rankings and to set the standard for interior design education so our graduates and alumni will stand out in their chosen field.

Whether you are a student, an alumnus, a faculty member, or afriend of the college we hope you share our enthusiasm for theses distinctions and will continue to be part of our valued NYSID community.

Sincerely,
David Sprouls
President
