Illegal Recruiter Convicted for Human Trafficking

Justice was served when an illegal recruiter was sentenced to imprisonment after found guilty of human trafficking.
Annaliza Datiles Carpacio was convicted of 20 years in prison, a fine of one (1) million pesos and was ordered to pay each of her victims P500,000 for moral damages and P50,000 for exemplary damages.
It was 2008 when Carpacio recruited four women and one minor girl to work as waitresses in Singapore. However, they travelled to Malaysia via Zamboanga City to avoid the strict immigration policy. Four were then transported to Brunei while the other one was left in Malaysia. The victims were forced to work as prostitutes and were maltreated when they refuse to.
The victims managed to escape and seek the help of the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur where they were assisted to be repatriated. The Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) in Manila help in the repatriation, legal and psycho-assistance of the victims.
Carpacio contacted again the victims when they return, offering another overseas job as caregiver in Singapore. CFO asked the help of NBI for an entrapment operation to which resulted to the capture of Carpacio and her companions.
Carpacio was found guilty for violation of Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
