Crash prompts reminder for winter driving conditions

Vermont State Police said a driver flipped his pickup on its side early Tuesday morning while driving in winter road conditions. According to police, the 21-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on Route 9 in Marlboro when he arrived at Hogback Mountain. Police said at the top of the mountain, Adam Labatt came upon black ice on the road. The Toyota Tacoma started fishtailing before Labatt lost control of the truck and overturned.Police said Labatt was going 50 mph and wore a seat belt during the incident. Troopers warned drivers on Route 9 from Bennington to use caution during winter road conditions. VTrans crews were treating the roads in the area of the crash.Crews from Brattleboro Fire and Marlboro Fire Department responded to the scene. Marlboro Towing and Collision removed the vehicle from the road.
