Watch: MSIT coach praises his team after emotional last-second loss

The sudden end of McKee/S.I. Tech's football season brought raw emotion to the Seagulls in the aftermath of their 24-20 loss to FDR on Sunday.

The Seagulls brought an 11-0 record into the PSAL Bowl Conference semifinal game before losing on the final play of the game. FDR wide receiver ReJohn Williams, the holder, converted a fake field-goal attempt into a winning 7-yard touchdown run as time expired.

Minutes later, MSIT head coach Anthony Cialdella addressed his team on the field, praising their hard work and dedication and telling them how proud he was of their season.

FDR head coach Paul Klypap also lauded the rival Seagulls, who fell to the Cougars 22-14 in last year’s city championship game.

“They’re a great team, well-coached with great kids,” said Klypap. “We knew it was going to be a war because it always is. It seems like it always comes down to the final few seconds with these two teams.”
