ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Did you step on the scale after Thanksgiving and not like what you saw? Or are you worried about packing on the pounds with all those holiday treats still ahead?

Rauslyn Dye is a personal trainer from Vatterott College in Fairview Heights. She is here with a few suggestions to help us battle the holiday bulge.

TIPS:

* Use commercial breaks for fitness: During commercial breaks, utilize the time to do sets of jumping jacks, sit-ups, push-ups and squats. These exercises do need any equipment but are just as effective for keeping your body in shape.

* Use smaller plate, fill with veggies: Holiday meals almost always consist mostly of items that are calorie rich. To combat this, find a smaller plate to use to portion control what you eat. Then be sure to fill at least half your plate with veggies so you can fill up on nutrient rich foods that are lower in calories.

* Park you car in the back: You’ll most likely be running around to different stores and with the huge parking lots that superstores and shopping malls have, parking in the back means you’ll have a bit of a trek to where you need to be. Remember, take any opportunity you can to move your body.
