MILLVILLE - One man was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after crashing his car into Main Street Market on Route 49.

The Millville Fire Department responded to the scene at 10:26 a.m. to find a silver SUV had driven into the side of the store, located at 1609 West Main St.

The driver, who was not identified, was taken to Inspira Medical Center after being checked out by Millville EMS, according to firefighter Tyler Vanleer.

It was uncertain what caused the man to drive into the store, Vanleer said.

Customers walk past a hole in the wall at Main Street Market after a car crashed into the building Sunday morning, Nov. 29 in Millville.

About 10 firefighters were at the scene inspecting damage, which Vanleer said did not affect the building structurally.

“It’s a pretty significant hole … but it did not compromise the integrity of the building,” Vanleer said. “It didn’t take out any support beams. The building is concrete … it’s a pretty solid building.”

When reached by The Daily Journal, a manager at the store who declined to give his name said, “Everything’s functioning properly. Everything’s fine.”

Comuter equipment and a car's bumper cover can bee seen inside the hole left in the wall of Main Street Market in Millville after a car drove into the building Sunday morning, Nov, 29.

The manager said the store would remain open for its normal operation hours. No other injuries were reported during the incident.
