Bellevue, WA—Lane Eagles will join the curatorial team at Bellevue Arts Museum as Associate Curator on December 7. Eagles is a curator, art historian, and writer who has created exhibitions for several Seattle area art institutions including the Museum of Pop Culture and the Henry Art Gallery. In her new position at BAM, she will play an essential role in furthering the Museum’s unique mission focused on art, craft, and design.

“We are delighted to welcome Lane Eagles to the BAM family,” said Benedict Heywood, BAM’s Executive Director & Chief Curator. “Her considerable practical experience and her wide-ranging academic interests will be an excellent complement to BAM’s existing curatorial expertise, and to our upcoming slate of guest curators. We look forward to seeing the exciting exhibitions that she will produce for our Museum and for our visitors in Bellevue and beyond.”

Eagles has previously served in curatorial and collections roles at the Henry Art Gallery, State Museums of Berlin, Museum of Pop Culture, and Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. She has worked on exhibitions for Sandpoint Gallery, Alice Gallery, and the Jacob Lawrence Gallery. She has also taught art history and fashion history courses at the University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University, and Cornish College of the Arts. Eagles earned her BA in art history from the University of Oklahoma and her MA and PhD in art history from the University of Washington. Her research focuses on gender and dress history, and her writing has appeared in Salon, The Conversion, and Smarthistory.

As a curator and art historian, I am excited to bring my historicizing lens to modern/contemporary art, craft, and design-focused exhibitions that meaningfully showcase the now.”
