Stopped by this unassuming place on the way back from a hike and it did not disappoint. I got the pork, my boyfriend got the hamburger patty, and our friend got the Korean fried chicken (not pictured). Tender juicy pork and sweet crispy chicken. The hamburger patties were okay, tasted a bit like meatloaf, but the chicken wings and pork were amazing! Very reasonable prices too. Definitely worth the stop.

It's just my experience but I got food poisoning from the Korean Chicken dish. Not to imply they aren't operating a clean business but it's just what happened to me. I called them to advise of my 30-hour disastrous food poisoning journey and they heard me out.
The staff are very nice. The wait was lengthy but it's not fast food so a little wait isn't bad. Ironically the food was delicious but an hour later my stomach started talking to me and after that it was a wrap.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin H.Westwood, Los Angeles, CA0122Apr 16, 2023
Very little seating, food took forever. We got the fresh catch of the day which had little to no seasoning two clumps of rice were thrown to one side. Zero thought was put into presentation.
Head to downtown hilo and check out temple bar instead. It was better in every conceivable way.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley L.Pleasanton, CA02323Dec 27, 2022
This is the best food I've had on the big island. We ordered the fresh fish of the day, the hamburger steak plate, and the Korean chicken plate and they were all delicious. The salad had a papaya dressing that was wonderful too. THE WINGS ALONE WERE THE BEST IVE HAD IN MY LIFE. Do not eat anywhere else!!!!

Minnie recently shut their doors for good, I just wanted to leave a review to say MAHALO!!! For so many years of ono food that we knew would be good every single time. Thank you for the years of service to our little town!

A quaint little restaurant that serves fresh Mahi Mahi fish plates & sandwiches.
I had the fish burger which was seasoned exactly like the fish plate. The Mahi Mahi was lightly seasoned so adding Tartar sauce just added that perfect balance of creamy texture & flavor. With the fish plate I chose the coleslaw that had a unique approach by adding apple cubes. Fruit & Vegetables all in 1 bite, so it was a win win for me.
Next, I ordered the Korean Chicken Plate that came with 8 piece drumette & wing combo, it was crispy & crunchy With the perfect amount of seasoning.
Thanks Minnie's for filling my tummy for some local food before I take a hike to Pololu Valley.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Eva E.San Francisco, CA44149155Nov 12, 2022
Best restaurant in north kohala. A co worker told me about the Friday special at Minnie for prime rib and lobster combo. It was $35 before the pandemic but now it's $48.95. It is a bit of a jump in price but it's lobster and prime rib after all. I got one order along with Korean chicken. My husband and I devoured it. The portion was huge and could be for 2 people. We didn't even touch the Korean chicken. Everything was top notch, even though this was a to go order. They were not doing any dining in......only take aways. The prime rib was a perfect medium, pink but not bloody and the lobster was perfectly seasoned and not over cooked. This meal was 10/10. Wish I took photos but we finished it before we got a chance. Highly recommend this place. The Friday night special needs to be preordered just fyi.

Minnie's is a road side eatery taking up not even half of a small house on the way to the pololu lookout. There is no indoor seating and only four outdoor tables. Plan to take your food to go and you can eat at one of the nearby parks. While Minnie's doesn't look like much, the food and the friendly service says it all. The food is AMAZING! The fresh catch Mahi Mahi was the best cooked fish I've had on the Bog Island our entire trip and we went to some higher end places. The ladies at Minnie's know how to cook and they treat you like family. A must try is the fried chicken with the plate lunch. Out of this world delicious. This place is a must try.
