If you’re reading this, you’re probably anxiously awaiting what President-elect Donald Trump will do with education policy once he takes office later this month. But exactly how much will Trump shift course from President Barack Obama when it comes to schools?

To help you answer that question, the Alyson Klein half of Politics K-12 discussed Obama’s education legacy on PBS NewsHour on Tuesday. Alyson talked about Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards, testing, and new teacher evaluation systems. These issues were big priorities during Obama’s tenure and his administration’s approach produced significant changes, but they also became very controversial. Alyson was joined by Scott Jaschik, an editor at Inside Higher Ed. You can watch the video below—the education segment starts at about the 42-minute mark.

And Thursday, U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. also published an “exit memo” detailing the Obama administration’s track record on education. He touched on early education, graduation rates, and standards, among other issues.
