Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project
Abstract: The Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project is the continuation of the expansion of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel facility from the a two-lane to a four-lane facility, that was started in the 1990s. The parallel bridge spans were completed in 1999. The Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project is the first of the two tunnels to be constructed to add additional lanes at the underwater crossings. This presentation will provide an overview of the project and current status of the construction.
