Sweet summer walk in the CBD

Residents of Pretoria and surrounds participated in the Sweet Summer Walk held in the CBD.

More than 60 people from in and around Pretoria participated in the 2016 seventh city walk on Saturday morning.

The Sweet Summer City Walk was organised by City Property and it started at 07:00.

The participants were dressed in their casual summer outfits.

Speaking to Lize Nel one of the organisers, she said participants were wearing beach hats and flip flops.

“The 5km walk started at 012Central, 381 Helen Joseph Street, and participants had a view from the rooftop of Prins Church, one of the tallest buildings in the city,” said Nel.

Young and elderly people participated in the walk and they viewed public art at the City Property office, the mother of jackal and a jacaranda tree, Sammy Marks Square, Living Women’s monument at the Tramshed, St Andrew’s Church, Polley’s Arcade and Bureau Lane up to Church Square.

“Walkers were treated to ice cream and a mannequin parade at Church Square and then returned to 012Central,” said Nel.

The walk was free for all ages.
