California "AB 5" (or, the bill that changed the way we legally classify independent contractors) has been a hot topic for many industries, including the arts community, since its passage in late 2019.

Sam Mazzeo and Olivia Phillips of Better APC will discuss the ins and outs of this legislation and what it means for the arts moving forward. 

Attendees will learn about: 

• The background of AB 5
• How AB 5's "ABC Test" works
• How the ABC Test differs from the state's previous classification test
• Avenues for exemptions for creatives
• Possible updates to this law, which may provide relief to the arts community.
