  • There have been calls for further resignations in the IFA following the resignation of former general secretary Pat Smith. The calls come from the Mayo IFA, whose county executive will present a letter at Wednesday’s executive council meeting at 11am. The letter calls for the resignation of Eddie Downey, who stepped back from his position as president on Monday evening, deputy president Tim O’Leary, Jer Bergin, JJ Kavanagh and Ken Heade.

  • In non-IFA news, a farm accident support group is to be established in Cork.
  • Ornua’s Joe Collins has said that recovery in terms of higher prices for the dairy sector is unlikely until the second half of 2016, unless a substantial corrective weather event takes place.
  • Greencore, the sandwich and food-to-go company, saw profits rise by 10.6% for the full year ending September 2015.
