Val Thorens Snow Report: 25th November 2015

A few days later than expected but today is the day – Val Thorens is…open!

With just a couple of lifts operating today, slowly but surely there will be more and more lifts and pistes opening up over the next few weeks.

The recent snowfall and amazingly hard work from the VT team means that today there will be the Peclet Funitel and Cascades chair lifts open along with the magic carpets. There is also a special opening price of just 15 euros the whole day. If you want to warm up summer rested ski legs then the staggered resort opening is perfect for you.

Ski passes can be bought at both the Peclet Funitel and ‘Le Forum’ which are both open from 8.45am until 4.30pm. On Thursday and Friday there will also be 50% discount from the full and half day normal tariff.

Temperatures have remained low since the very welcome snow at the weekend which has meant the resort has kept hold of the white stuff. There is more snow falling today and it’s good to see there is more forecast at the weekend. The low temperatures mean the snow canons have also been blasting out a good top-up to make sure that the resort opening of lower resorts such as Les Menuires will also open in a few weeks as scheduled.

If you fancy dusting off your skis for some action in the mountains this weekend then watch this space for details of which lifts will be open on Saturday and Sunday when there is also even more snow due, it looks like Winter is finally here!
