Player Spotlight: Victor Bernardez's 2015 season in review

Earthquakes defender Victor Bernardez made his fourth year in San Jose a memorable one, anchoring one of the best defenses in the league. From game-winning assists to appearance milestones, we review Muma’s strong 2015 campaign for the black and blue. 


Career Highs: The four-year MLS veteran set career highs in appearances (29), starts (29) and minutes (2,508). He has set a new career high in appearances in each of his four seasons (24, 25, 26, 29). 

Game-Winning Assist: Bernardez tallied his lone assist of the year in a crucial 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Sept. 27. It marked the third game-winning assist of his career.

Key Contributor: Bernardez helped anchor a backline that allowed just 39 goals during the season, tied for third fewest in MLS.

100 Appearances: Making his 100th career appearance, Bernardez helped the Quakes earn a 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy on Aug. 28 in the first-ever California Clasico at Avaya Stadium.

100 Starts: Bernardez made his 100th career start on Sept. 5 vs. Philadelphia.
