A terminally ill "Star Wars" fan, who was able to watch an early screening of "The Force Awakens," has died.

Ashley Fleetwood said Tuesday morning that her 32-year-old husband, Daniel Fleetwood, died in his sleep.

"Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force," Ashley Fleetwood said in a Facebook post. “He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero.”

Daniel Fleetwood suffered from a rare form of connective tissue cancer called spindle cell sarcoma. He was told by his oncologist in July that he had only two months to live.

His dying wish was to watch a screening of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ahead of its Dec. 18 release date.

Following a successful social media campaign, using the hashtag #forcefordaniel, Fleetwood watched an unedited version of the upcoming movie last week.

The campaign caught the attention of "Star Wars" cast members including Mark Hamill and John Boyega and elicited a phone call from the film's director J.J. Abrams.
