Queen's cocktail

To commemorate Her Majesty, The Queen’s 90th birthday, Bars Manager Luca Missaglia has created four Tanqueray No. Ten bottled cocktails, to celebrate four memorable occasions in her life. Each cocktail uses gin and tea, quintessentially British ingredients which also form the inspiration for the interior design in aqua shard.

Wedding 1947
Tanqueray 10 gin, apple, chocolate, citrus, peppermint tea

Warm chocolate flavours, in honour of The Queen’s wedding cake in 1947, are perfectly balanced in a delicious cocktail with apple, citrus and peppermint tea with a dry finish.

The official wedding cake was created by McVities, and due to postwar rationing the ingredients were given as wedding presents from various people and organisations overseas. Her Majesty, the Queen’s favourite afternoon tea treat is a chocolate tea cake, made with McVities rich tea biscuits, reminiscent of her wedding cake. Prince William’s wedding cake was also created by McVities, combining the same dark chocolate and tea flavours.

Coronation 1953
Rosemary infused Tanqueray 10 gin, raisins, lemon, spiced tea, mango

A twist on a classic martini marks 1953 and Her Majesty’s coronation; reminiscent of the spiced sweetness of coronation chicken this concoction brings together tastes of rosemary, raisins and spices.

Presented in a bottle evoking the shape of the crown, with a royal-red wax seal, this regal cocktail is a sumptuous way to watch the sun set over London.

Silver Jubilee 1977
Tanqueray 10 gin, aperitif wine, English breakfast tea, cacao, strawberry, absinthe, lime, cucumber

The Silver Jubilee is remembered in this cooling, cucumber cocktail that captures the festival feeling of the Afternoon Tea street parties of 1977. This refreshing drink is the afternoon treat in a bottle – essences of cucumber sandwhiches, British strawberries and cream and English breakfast tea.

90th Birthday 2016
Tanqueray 10 gin, dry sherry, sugar, mint tea, bitters, grapefruit

Finally, a modern and elegant drink with dry sherry, mint tea and grapefruit, to celebrate 2016 and a monarch who embraces change and modernity.

With this cocktail, Luca wanted to capture a British sensibility, which is our unique fondness of bitters, the fresh feeling of spring with mint, and to be forward looking - he is predicting that dry sherry will be the new trend!

Due to their popularity, these glorious cocktails are now available until the end of August!
