FOREST, Virginia - Virginia Wesleyan's
Emily Seale and
Madison Glaubke were named the Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference office on Monday afternoon.
The No. 2 Marlins went 3-1 on the week splitting a doubleheader against the No. 5 Captains of Christopher Newport and finished the week with a sweep over Guilford on Sunday afternoon on the road.
Emily Seale appeared in two games starting both and picking up a 2-0 record on the week to improve to 8-1 on the season. In total, Seale threw 10 innings striking out four batters of 33 batters faced in the week. The rest of Seale's stat line read four hits, one run and four walks. Seale gave up just one run on three hits to the No. 5 Captains while throwing the complete game.
Madison Glaubke helped Virginia Wesleyan to a split against fifth-ranked Christopher Newport University (1-10 | 3-1) and a sweep over Guilford (14-1 | 10-4). Glaubke batted in each contest coming to the plate 15 times in the four contests. She recorded seven runs on four hits, including four home runs, while driving in nine RBI. Glaubke was walked four times, once in each game, and struckout once against Guilford. The senior also recorded three stolen bases on the week.
Both honors are a first the each athlete this season. They also join
Hanna Hull,
Daja Burgee, and
Jessica Goldyn who have earned of the week accolades including two sweeps already this year.
Virginia Wesleyan returns to action this Saturday, March 27, when they travel to Rocky Mount, VA for a neutral site doubleheader against the Emory and Henry College Wasps. Game times are set for 2 and 4 PM and will be broadcasted for fans to follow along from home.
