Gallery SEMA Jeeps
Who knew you could do all this to a Jeep?

Real Jeeps, the ones you see out on the trail in Moab or the Mojave, are rarely stock. In fact, if you’re out there and you see a stock Jeep, you should pull over and ask them if they’re lost and need help, because they probably are. There’s nothing Jeep owners like better than customizing their rigs: jack them up, add a couple racks, spray paint some graphics all over the outside…

It was the latter approach that was celebrated at the 2015 SEMA Show. There were more Jeeps at the show than any other SUV, according to SEMA. The Jeep was officially “The Hottest SUV” as measured by the number of SUVs on the show floor. SEMA officials actually go through all the halls and count everything. But anyone who walked around the show this year couldn’t help but see that there were Jeeps everywhere: jacked up, modified and sporting spray-on bedliner paint jobs. Here are our favorites.

Mark Vaughn
Mark Vaughn grew up in a Ford family and spent many hours holding a trouble light over a straight-six miraculously fed by a single-barrel carburetor while his father cursed Ford, all its products and everyone who ever worked there. This was his introduction to objective automotive criticism. He started writing for City News Service in Los Angeles, then moved to Europe and became editor of a car magazine called, creatively, Auto. He decided Auto should cover Formula 1, sports prototypes and touring cars—no one stopped him! From there he interviewed with Autoweek at the 1989 Frankfurt motor show and has been with us ever since.
